My name is David Ross, i was listening to Radio Delta  on the 2nd of November 2024, I tuned into Radio Delta at 12.060 kHz from Hamilton, Canada, using my Watkins Johnson HF1000 receiver and a PAE End Fed SWL antenna. The signal was generally good, rated at a SINPO of 34333, allowing me to enjoy the broadcast without too many interruptions.

The broadcast began at 1325 UTC with the station identification by a male presenter, who discussed Robbie Williams and his hit song, “She’s The One.” It set a pleasant tone for the transmission, and soon after, the song itself filled the airwaves at 1329. I found myself reminiscing while listening to “Losing My Mind” by the Pet Shop Boys at 1333, which brought back memories of the iconic 80s era.

At 1337, the presenter returned to identify the station again, transitioning smoothly into “The Captain of Her Heart” by Double. The music flowed effortlessly, and I particularly enjoyed “The Edge of Heaven” by Wham! at 1342, the catchy tune brightening my afternoon.

Things took a bilingual turn at 1345 when the presenter spoke in Spanish before introducing “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Simply Red. A few moments later, at 1350, the station was identified once more, leading into “Leave a Light On” by Tom Walker. The mix of songs was diverse and engaging, showcasing the station’s eclectic playlist.

As the clock struck 1353, the presenter returned, sharing more details about the program. A segment titled “The Record and Its Story” was introduced at 1356, featuring a nostalgic play of “Stop In The Name of Love” by Gloria Gaynor. This brought a wave of familiarity and warmth, reminding me of classic radio shows I used to listen to.

At 1402, the announcer shared some exciting news about upcoming programming, including new frequencies for Saturday broadcasts. This was a highlight, as I always look forward to discovering more from the station. Following this update, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot played, resonating deeply with me.

As the broadcast continued, the presenter skillfully transitioned into various songs, including “Coming Around Again” by Carly Simon at 1412 and “Too Much Love Will Kill You” by Brian May at 1416. The music kept a lively and reflective atmosphere, making my listening experience quite enjoyable.

At around 1420, the presenter read reception reports, while “Slaughter On Tenth Avenue” by The Ventures played softly in the background. It was great to hear from other listeners and feel a part of the community. Finally, the last station identification was presented, where the history of the band Europe was discussed, leading into their famous track “The Final Countdown.” However, shortly after 1424, the signal began to fade, making it harder to listen.

Overall, my experience with Radio Delta was delightful, filled with a variety of music, engaging commentary, and a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I eagerly anticipate tuning in again for their next broadcast.

  1. That is great. The shortwave has no frontier because of the good technical work in Elburg on transmitter and antenna.. Welcome David to the Radio Delta Community and good DX. 73 from Hamburg, Dieter
