I was out in a forest near Turin with my new radio, searching around the shortwave bands to see what I could find.
While tuning across the 49-metre band, I came across Radio Delta on 6190 kHz. There is something special about discovering a shortwave station when you are outside with just a radio and a simple long-wire antenna. You never quite know what signal will appear next.
That is part of the fun of shortwave for me: exploring the bands, finding stations from other countries and hearing signals that have travelled through the air to wherever you happen to be listening.
This time, Radio Delta was one of those discoveries — received from a forest in Italy.
