I live in Tauranga on the northeast coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Unfortunately, local electrical noise makes listening to low-power shortwave stations from home virtually impossible, so I often use remote receivers.
On 14 August 2026, I was using the KiwiSDR at White Rock on New Zealand’s South Island when I heard Radio Delta on 6190 kHz at 20:00 UTC.
Reception was poor to just fair, with a SINPO of 25422, and the signal faded quite quickly after 20:30 UTC. Even so, I was able to follow parts of the programme and identify several songs, including Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” and Simon & Garfunkel’s “I Am a Rock.”
It was especially good to hear Billy Joel again, as I don’t hear his music a great deal these days.
I was very pleased to receive a reply from Radio Delta. Thank you so much for the time and effort in replying. I also enjoyed learning a little more about the station’s home town — Elburg looks to be a very interesting city with its many historic buildings.
It was great to hear Radio Delta all the way down here in New Zealand!
