About Radio Delta AM

Radio Delta AM is a small independent shortwave radio station, created by radio enthusiasts and made for listeners who still value the sound, reach, and character of AM and shortwave broadcasting. For us, radio is more than audio — it is discovery, storytelling, and connection across borders.

Our Story

Our journey started in 1975. For decades we experimented on all radio bands, often without official permission and always aware that authorities could shut us down. We learned by doing: building transmitters, modifying equipment, and exploring what was technically possible at the time.

Using powerful transmitters — including military surplus equipment — our signals travelled far beyond our local area and were heard across Europe. That long experimental period shaped our character: practical, creative, and driven by curiosity.

In 2020, Radio Delta AM obtained legal status for regular broadcasts. The spirit did not change — only the freedom to continue openly.

What We Do Today

Today, Radio Delta AM produces weekly shortwave programs for an international audience. Our main format is Five Decades of Music, combining music with radio culture and listener participation.

  • Listener Voices — reception reports, reactions, and stories from around the world
  • Radio Stories — memories and history from the world of AM and shortwave radio
  • The Record and Its Story — why a track was written and why we play it

Each broadcast hour is opened with intention and closed properly — the way classic radio was meant to be experienced.

Our Payoff

Radio Delta AM — Long Live Shortwave Radio

This payoff reflects what drives us. We believe shortwave radio still matters and deserves to be heard. Through regular broadcasts, listener involvement, and radio storytelling, Radio Delta AM actively keeps shortwave radio alive.

Why Shortwave Matters

Shortwave radio reaches people directly, without apps, accounts, or algorithms. If you can hear us, you are part of it — whether you are nearby or thousands of kilometres away.
